Pterygoplichthys Joselimaianus-L001 is a peaceful fish compared to other fish with the exception of conspecifics. As a result of food competition, they are rather territorial. They can be combined with almost all fish except for the most aggressive species.
The aquarium must have a sandy substrate and sufficient shelters using drift wood and roots. Since they are large polluters, a powerful filter and regular water chages are necessary.

Breeding Pterygoplichthys joselimaianus – L001 in a living room aquariums is virtually impossible. They dig a deep tunnel in muddy banks in which the eggs are deposited and hatched. In commercial fish farms they are being bred but they use large artificial ponds.
